Hello, wonderful people!
I mentioned a couple weeks ago that I had some very exciting news…
I’ve recently been introduced to an awesome travel company. It’s been saving me a boatload of money on my travels around the U.S. and will be a great asset to me while I am abroad.
I’ll be sharing more about it soon! In the mean time, if you would like more information, shoot me an email at theadventurousandrea@gmail.com and I will get back to you shortly!
Namaste,
Andrea
Travel companies are great ways to meet a lot of people, cover a lot of ground, and take the hassle out of travelling. Keep it up! By the way I love the quote you have on Twitter – “Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go.” – used it as the inspiration for a post a while back http://3rdmilleniummen.wordpress.com/2012/10/02/only-those-who-will-risk-going-too-far/
I concur!
It is a really great quote! I’ll be sure to check out that post of yours.
That sounds like a lot of fun. What kind of work might you be doing? I’ve done some teaching trips overseas (Ukraine, Lebanon), and they were fantastic. Will you only be going to Europe?
I’m definitively going to be in Europe from summer 2013 until November 2014. I intend to keep traveling after, but I’m not sure what continent!
I will be an au pair for the time and likely doing some exchange work.
Of course, I also have to ask, are you learning any languages to prepare for your trip?
Naturally! Haha
I’m going to start reviewing my old Spanish material. I’m hoping that will help me while I’m Italy too. What are your thoughts?
My first thought is that working on your Spanish is an awesome idea! My second thought is that you could learn a good amount of Spanish and some passible Italian between now and your departure. You could easily find an activity you enjoy in Spanish–music, podcasts, TV, movies, telenovelas–and spend 15 minutes a day on them. Be sure to find something you love, and if you get sick of it, find something else you love. Look up new words when you get a chance. You will be surprised at what you will learn. Once a week you should find some native speakers to shoot the breeze with. (That will get you over any nerves you might have.)
I have a friend who decided to spend 30 minutes per day on Spanish. He spends a lot of time in the car, so he listens to the radio.
With Italian, you could just read a little from time to time. Learn some basics–”be”, “have”, pronouns, etc. The rest will look a lot like Spanish. Then read and listen a little each day. I don’t know Italian, but with French and a little Spanish I can read Italian ok.
If you would like more specific advice, I’d be happy to help you look for resources. The main thing is to remember how many more people you’ll get to talk to if you learn some of the language now!
Thank you so much for your recommendations! I am definitely going to put them to practice.
A month or so ago, I made a Spanish music playlist and try and listen to that for awhile each day.
I’m be so curious to know what you think of this program…

was just watching your newest video. It is obvious that you are very excited about your travel arrangements and the travel company. I just started working as a contract manager for an incoming agency….so I “briefly” know what traveling is all about.. keep going forward….

Hey Andrea! Sounds pretty awesome, and congrats on being almost done with school! Sounds like a good fit since you’ll be just getting out of school, and I hope it turns out to be a good way to get to travel!
Thank you so much! Yeah, it’s an awesome program for anyone who enjoys travel.
When traveling, saving money is a must. You need that money to invest in all the good food you will get to experience on your travels.
I completely agree, Liz!
Mmmmm, FOOD.
